Registered Dietitian and Clinical Nutrition Director (Sign-on Bonus)

Job Relationships:

Responsible to: Director of Operations

Supervises: Dietary Personnel

Interrelationships: Works cooperatively with dietary personnel, medical staff, administration, other department directors and personnel, patients, and the public.

Job Summary:

Plans and delivers nutritional care to patients according to the physicians’ diagnoses. Performs as a member of the multidisciplinary care team. Screens newly admitted patients to identify those at nutritional risk. Prescribes therapeutic diet orders as allowed by medical staff bylaws and State Law. Supervises dietary personnel.

Directs activities of the Dietary Department providing quality food service and nutritional care for the patient population, visitors, guests, and hospital staff. Administers, plans, and directs activities of department providing quality food service. Establishes policies and procedures, and provides administrative direction of menu formulation, food preparation and service, purchasing, sanitation standards, safety practices and staff utilization. Selects dietary personnel and directs departmental education programs. Coordinates interdepartmental professional activities, and acts as resource person to staff on matters pertaining to dietetics. Participates in CQI performance improvement activities and educates all staff members.

Job Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in course work approved by the Commission on Accreditation for Dietetics Education (CADE) of the American Dietetic Association (ADA).

Proof of passing the national examination administered by the Commission on Dietetic Registration (CDR) or the National Board Examination for Registered Dietitian Nutritionists (RDN).

Participates in continuing educational requirements to maintain registration.

Licensed dietitian status within the state of Kansas.

Recent experience in managing the food services in an acute hospital.

Certificates and Licenses:

Proof of passing the national examination administered by the Commission on Dietetic Registration (CDR) or the National Board Examination for Registered Dietitian Nutritionists (RDN).Licensed dietitian status within the state of Kansas.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

Responsible for the competency of the dietary personnel, the dietary activities, quality food preparation and service, and nutritional care for the patient population, visitors, guests, and hospital staff., maintaining compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local regulations. Manages the dietary personnel and daily laboratory operations of the dietary department. Is responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of the dietary department and nutritional services at Ashland Health Center. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Job Summary:

Performs a wide range of duties involved with preparing and/or serving foods and beverages in one or more of a variety of food service environments. May perform such duties as preparing salad items, hot foods, and/or cold foods, and/or assisting in the preparation of bakery items, as appropriate to the position. Assist in cleaning work area, equipment, utensils and dishes. May assist in the set up, and service; and collection of garbage/trash; as appropriate to the area of operation. May serve food to customers and/or perform cashiering duties, as appropriate.

Job Qualifications:

Good customer relations skills is a must. Experience in basic cooking skills, food preparations, and sanitation preferred, but not required. Must be able to work at a moderately fast pace. Must be able to read and comprehend diets, policies, procedures and regulations in English.
